The school infirmary at Sanskriti…The School is equipped with the necessary materials and facilities to address any health needs of scholars in school.
A qualified and experienced nurse is available on campus to manage and assess any health issues that may arise during school hours. In the event of an emergency requiring medical attention, the student is shifted to the nearest hospital and parents are informed of the same. A comprehensive medical record of each student is maintained by the school nurse.
Basic first-aid kits are available in high risk areas such as the laboratories as well as on the school buses.
Our nurse’s services expand to the following domains:
Attends to scholars who are injured or who become ill while at school, administers first-aid and other emergency nursing measures, and arranges for medical attention where the circumstances indicate.
Secures and carries out medically approved written instructions for care of sick and injured scholars.
Initiates various screening activities to ascertain scholars health appraisal.
Confers with teachers, scholars and parents regarding management of identified health problems.
Provides instructions to scholars and parents in subjects such as nutrition, rest and relaxation, communicable diseases and home healthcare.
Excludes and re-admits sick scholars in accordance with existing school health regulations and policies.
Provides updated health information and coordinates care to parents, teachers and other health authorities.
Maintains accurate and updated health records of all scholars with confidentiality and care. Coordinates with hospitals, first-aid services and other medical facilities.
Medical check-ups of students are regularly carried out and a record is maintained. If the doctor is of the opinion that a child needs special medical attention, the parents are informed of the same.
Parents are requested not to send sick children to school for attending classes or appearing for examinations. This is in the interest of the child and at times his/her classmates, as well. Medical Certificates must be submitted so that the child’s results are not affected.
All parents are requested to impart Health Education to their children.
Annual health check ups are conducted by the school.
This is important so that they –
a) Maintain personal hygiene such as trimming of nails and being neat on a regular basis.
b) Exercise regularly.
c) Sleep for at least eight hours daily.
d) Have a balanced diet, nutritionally rich.
e) Drink water which is either boiled or filtered. All students are advised to bring their own water bottles from home.
f) Avoid consumption of ice-creams, other milk products and eatables from road-side vendors and kiosks.
g) All children should also be:
i) Dewormed at least once every year, on the advice of the family physician.
ii) Have a dental and ophthalmic check-up once every year by a well qualified dental surgeon and ophthalmologist.
iii) Immunised as per the schedule given:
a) BCG
b) DPT
c) Oral Polio
to be completed before entry to the School
d) Measles / MMT
e) Tetanus – Booster dose to be given between 7 – 16 years of age and also to be given if injured.
f) Typhoid every 2/3 years (with oral medicine / injections)
g) Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Meningitis, Chicken Pox
h) Students suffering from diseases such as Chicken Pox, Cholera, Measles, Mumps, Whooping-cough, and Jaundice must observe the prescribed period of quarantine.
Students suffering from infectious diseases such as Conjunctivitis, Dermatitis, Scabies, etc. should not be sent to school until they have fully recovered.
Students suffering from chronic diseases like Asthma, Epilepsy, Heart Disease etc. are advised to be under continuous medical supervision of a doctor, who is a specialist in the concerned field. History of their ailments must be filled up in the Almanac, along with the treatment and the medicines prescribed by the concerned doctor.
Parents are also advised to keep the school infirmary informed (medical / health problem which may have developed during the academic year.
The medical history of the student must be filled up by the parents in the space provided in the almanac.
